Rough Night, Fresh Morning

Tips for being fresh after a sleepless night

If your night was a total mess, even if you couldn’t sleep because of insomnia, menstrual cramps, you had a wild night of sex, you were at a party, your baby was constantly crying or you had a fever, then you will find below some tricks that we consider useful to deal with the next day:

  • Sleep at least 30-45 minutes. Even if you have a little more time, do not exceed this period of relaxation, as you may wake up much more tired. Also, you may not be able to fall asleep due to excessive fatigue, but it is important to give your body a little rest so that its functions go at a different speed.
  • Swollen eyes will be the first thing you notice when you look in the mirror. To remove or reduce this aspect as much as possible, remove make-up, apply a lot of cold water on the face, and, if you have time, use a few compresses with tea bags (antioxidants in tea help to elasticity and firmness of the skin). You will notice how the swellings will fade. Don’t forget to apply quality makeup later.
  • Dress as comfortably as possible and wear quality footwear. If it is not necessary, do not wear uncomfortable shoes that day just because they match the outfit, because they will create an extra discomfort that you do not necessarily need. Not to mention the situation in which you consumed alcohol the night before, which will lead to fluid retention and, implicitly, to swollen feet.
  • Use a multivitamin and magnesium complex. They can supply you with the energy you need on such a day, and are also known for their ability to help your brain function better.
  • Enjoy your morning coffee! Although at first you will tend to believe that the effect is zero, after about 25-30 minutes you will feel its invigorating effect. But be careful! The benefits of caffeine last 3-4 hours, after which you will be tempted to use a new cup. Do not abuse coffee or caffeinated energy drinks, instead replace them with green tea, fruit smoothies or lemonade.
  • Eat a lot for breakfast, even if you don’t normally do that. Do not use sugar, as it does not give you lasting energy, but only steals it from you. Increase your intake of fiber, protein and carbohydrates by consuming dairy products, eggs, meat, nuts, nuts, rice, fresh fruits and vegetables. Do not resort to the famous fast food, which will do nothing but increase your fatigue.
  • Drink plenty of water, even if you are not thirsty. Try to exceed the daily intake of water that you provide to your body, as the lack of quality sleep leads to dehydration, and implicitly to the lack of vitality. Another trick would be to try to drink cold liquids, even with ice, to the detriment of hot ones. We know that a hot tea, for example, brings us that state of relaxation that we do not necessarily need when we have to be active after a lost night.
  • Take a walk, possibly walk to the office. If time allows you and the weather is nice take a few minutes walking and have lunch outdoors.
  • Use natural light and ventilate the room well. Carry out your activity, as much as possible, in a space where the sun can fully penetrate. Also, the cooler it is outside, the more you should let the cool air enter your working space. In a dark and warm office you will surely be overwhelmed by laziness, and implicitly lack of concentration.
  • Rest your eyes. You can use various tricks, such as: close your eyes for a few seconds, at different intervals, look blankly without fixing a specific point or, look at something that relaxes you. Avoid taking advantage of the small breaks to consult your messages from whatsapp or personal email.
  • Recover the lost night with a restful sleep the next evening, to make sure that you will not ruin your next day also. For this you need to postpone or cancel other activities such as going to the gym, meeting friends or boyfriend, cooking, activities with children, etc. to give the body time to recover through rest.
