Let’s talk about wine

White, rose or red?

First, let’s dismantle the famous myth that “alcohol is bad for your health.” Well, that’s not the case: even doctors recommend drinking a glass of wine a day. But pay attention to the size of the glass, because liver enzymes can process up to 200 ml of wine alcohol in 24 hours. But don’t worry about overdoing it. The liver is the only internal organ of your body that has the capacity for total regeneration. All you have to do is take a break after an excess of alcohol.

Although there are rumors that drinking wine is a real art, we believe that the theory applies to sommelier or fine wine collectors. However, as an occasional consumer, you can take into account some tips that will help you choose the right wine depending on the occasion, color preferences, properties or the foods you associate with it during the meal.

1. Do not mix wine with water. Specifically, the glass of water should be next to the glass of wine, not mix them. The Romanian spritz has had its role in the past, but we have to get over this outdated custom that a glass of spritz cools you down. Wine is an aristocratic liqueur, not lemonade or ice-tea, so it should be consumed as such.

2. If you are a wine drinker, you probably already know that white wine is associated with meals served with fish or white meat, and red wine is associated with red meat dishes. In principle, you can associate any kind of wine with your dish, but the more spicy or flavorful your food will be, the more pretentious the wine becomes, and vice versa. Here are some tips to keep in mind: if the food is salty, the wine should be sweet, if the meal is rich in cheese, the “safe” choice is a dry-rose, the combination of desserts with high acidity wines is to be avoided, dry wine is not combined with raw vegetable or fish dishes and especially, an old wine is served with basic dishes.

3. One glass of wine a day has multiple health benefits. Consumed before bed, it not only solves the problem of insomnia but also considerably reduces (about 30%) the risk of heart attack. Other known benefits of regular consumption (but not excess wine) are: prevention of diabetes, stimulation of libido, regulation of hypertension, increase of “good” cholesterol, improvement of memory, etc. In other words, you will live longer if you choose wine instead of other types of alcohol.

4. The glass of wine has its conduct! The wine is served in a standing glass, not just for elegance. The glass is always held by the foot to prevent the wine from heating up. If you have guests or a romantic dinner and you want to impress, you can choose to cool the glass beforehand in the fridge or even in the freezer. And one more important thing: the wine glass does not fill. The recommended amount is one third, maximum half of its volume.

5. The serving temperature of the wine enhances its aroma. In short, white and rose wines are served cold, light red wine is served at 14-16 degrees (basement temperature, cellar and cellar), and hard red wines, at room temperature.

Of course, the choice of wine belongs to you every time! In addition to the above tips, we recommend a moderate consumption of it and otherwise “Enjoy and have a nice drink!”
