Ready! Set! Discipline!

Self-discipline and its role in your life

We did not intend to talk today about the discipline practiced in schools, about the discipline of the 7 years at home or about the discipline at work, but about how each of us should become disciplined in everything he does. The strictness imposed by the very term of discipline will definitely and categorically influence the way your life will unfold, in fact becoming rigid and adaptable at the same time.

In other words, depending on the rules you impose on yourself and the level at which you come to abide by them, you will come to focus consciously on a certain direction.

How do you self-discipline?

Simple, choosing a discipline of the soul first, by the decision not to violate the principles in which you truly believe. That means refusing to do things you don’t really believe in or honor, just for the sake of compromise.

Professional or family discipline are just as important. Set your own rules and follow them with holiness. For example, if you decide to wake up every morning at a certain time, but one day you would sleep a few extra hours, make the effort and get up. The principle also applies to the observance of professional tasks, achievement of objectives, diets, etc.

Without discipline, you will become easily influenced and implicitly tools in achieving other people’s goals.

By setting your own rules and choosing to define your own discipline, you will be able to:

1. Get rid of laziness, procrastination, embarrassing excuses

Stop making excuses to get into sports or finish a project. There is no set time for you to start working, like tomorrow or my birthday, you have to start NOW.

2. You regain your confidence

Once you have acquired the necessary discipline to complete whatever you start, you will increase both your self-esteem and your self-confidence.

3. You have a sense of accomplishment

When we notice that we are getting closer to reaching a goal and we realize that we are on the right track, we feel that inner satisfaction that we all long for in our daily lives. It will actually give you the strength to go further, and further until you get the results you want.

4. Become responsible, so you mature

Self-discipline will turn you into an adult who doesn’t need someone all the time to guide you in a certain direction. The ability to make decisions independently is in fact the prerogative of great leaders or managers.
