How different the generations are? What generation do you belong to?
It sometimes happens to all of us in our daily lives to have various misunderstandings with close people due to differences in mentality, personality, culture or education. Most of the time, we resign ourselves to blaming the well-known gap between the generations, claiming that they are too old and outdated, or too young, uneducated or inexperienced.
The truth is that each generation is defined by characteristic features, determined primarily by the landmark events of the period, scientific discoveries, technology, etc. All we have to do is try to understand and accept each person and become more flexible and less critical.
Depending on the year you were born, here is the generation you belong to:
- Baby Boomers Generation (1946-1964)
We are talking here about people who are over 53 years old now. Determinants of this category are hippie movements and human rights movements. Those born after 1955 have lost the optimism of the previous generation, especially in the wake of the economic problems that arose during World War II, becoming much more skeptical.
Although they knew the technology late, they accept and use it.
- Generation X (1965-1979)
They are known in our country as the “decree”, many of them being the result of the politics of the times, when the law on the prohibition of abortions was adopted. It is a generation that has adapted best to changes in mentality, they are competitive individuals, organized and with the highest rate of high intellectuality. Generation X adults are the children of communism and the young people who fought for its downfall.
With them, the concept was developed according to which the income in a family comes from both sides.

- Generation Y or Millennials (1980-1995)
It is a generation of creative spirit, with high esteem and self-confidence, oriented towards achieving high goals. People born during this period are extremely educated, flexible, have hobbies developed since childhood, are very socially active. They are vocal people, they firmly support their point of view and, unlike other generations, they are more united.
A weak point of them is the financial instability, most often caused by the desire for freedom, most of them accessing loans for more serious investments (houses, cars).
- Generation Z (1995-2010)
It is the first generation that grew up online, in a technological environment. They are not idealists, they break away from the patterns of society and each individual is looking for his unique personality. They are realistic, independent, flexible and unpredictable.
They do not necessarily reject the religion, traditions or experiences of their predecessors, but they are more skeptical and pragmatic.
- Alpha Generation (2010 – circa 2025)
As you may have already guessed, the letters of the alphabet ended up in the definition / delimitation of generations, in the sense that we switched to the Greek alphabet. The first representatives of the Alpha Generation are now in kindergartens, high schools or about to be born :). Like most Generation Z, they are born with technology in hand. They have fewer brothers and sisters, their families are involved in their school education, they will be oriented towards materialism.
