About vegan care products
When we read the list of ingredients of a cosmetic product it is quite difficult to understand what all those scientific names mentioned represent. Although we see the effectiveness of the products on our face and body, if we could identify each ingredient, we would quickly realize that some of them are either chemical (artificial preservatives and dyes) or extracted by various processes from animals, such as :
- Gelatin, which is extracted from boiling until almost decomposing the bones, tendons and skin of animals;
- Carmine is obtained by crushing and macerating the insect Dactylopius coccus (cochineal);
- Civet oil, commonly used in perfumes, is extracted from the cat’s glandular secretions;
- Lanolin is extracted from the fat accumulated in the fur of animals;
- Collagen contains cells obtained from fibrous proteins derived from animal tissue;
- Musk oil is extracted from the genital secretions of musk deer;
- Estradiol is made from the urine of pregnant mares;
- Guanine is derived from fish scales;
- Stearic acid is obtained from the stomach of a pig, cow or sheep;
- Keratin is extracted from hardened hooves or feathers;
- Retinol (vitamin A) is obtained from eggs, beef, chicken liver, fish. It can also be of vegetable origin, such as carrots, zucchini, etc.

What does a vegan cosmetic mean?
If you purchase a product that contains only plant and mineral products but has been previously tested on animals, this is not a vegan product. Vegan products are much more effective for our body than synthetic or animal products. Choosing the vegan option will protect your animals and the environment and you will enjoy a healthier body and complexion.
Vegetarian / vegan cosmetics
Labeled vegetarian products differ from vegan ones in that they contain ingredients from animals, such as milk, honey, eggs, etc. They are more environmentally friendly, but this does not necessarily mean that cruelty to animals has not been used in the testing / patenting process.
Makeup brushes
Makeup brushes are traditionally made of animal hair. However, nowadays it is easy to find a set of quality synthetic hypoallergenic brushes that are easy to maintain.
